Morton Subotnick's Creating Music
This is a great website called Morton Subotnick's Creating Music. Once you go to the main page there are six different games you can play and while you are there you can learn about the different instruments and get exposed to different music. This a great website for music educators because having your students play these games helps your students develop skills and get them introduced to different kinds of music. My favorite game on that website is the game called creating your own music. What makes it fun is that you get to pick different instruments and then draw a line or shapes and the program makes music out of what you drew. This website is also a great way for students to be creative and create their own kind of music.
Learning Games For Kids
This another great website for students learning about music. What also makes this website so great is that it also includes games for other school subjects like for math, social studies, spelling, and much, much more. One of the games I found really fun on that website is the Music Memory Game. This game is really good for ear training and it puts a fun twist on it that makes it more enjoyable than normal ear training exercises. There is a lot of good games and tools on this website that can help students develop the skills necessary for music.
Animated Science
This website is pretty cool because it gets you familiar with a classical orchestra. What the students can do is click on the different sections in the orchestra and then information about those instruments pop up in another window and the students can read it and fill in the blanks for some missing information. What is also cool, is that for each section you click on music starts to play, but not just any music, its music being played by those instruments you just clicked on. This website is pretty neat with having anyone getting a chance to explore what makes up an orchestra and giving information that is very important for students to learn and know.
Whack A Note
This is probably one of my favorite games to play. The game is based off of whack a mole but its a new twist to the game teaching students to read treble clef. The main point of the game is that you are shown what note you have to click on and then that note will pop out of the hole and the trick is to not clicking on the wrong note. Its a very fun game and this would be a good game for students to try out and play.
Classics For Kids
This is from the website called Classics for Kids, and this website has four fun games for students to work on to learn about music. The four games are Composer Time Machine, Note Name Game, Compose Your Own Music, and Be a Rockin' Rhythm Master. All of those games are pretty fun, but the one I favor the most is Be a Rockin' Rhythm Master, because its a good game to challenge students with having them work on some easy rhythms to some challenging ones. And overall this website can be very useful for the students and can be a lot of fun at the same time.
